Astrozap light protection sleeve for GSO Truss RC and 14" Newtonian Truss telescopes.
Nylon light protection sleeves are an almost indispensable accessory for owners of Dobson telescopes with Serrurier tubes (tubular mount that supports the secondary mirror cage). They offer 2 important advantages. First, they prevent the circulation of moist air in the gap between the primary and secondary mirrors, which could lead to fogging of the optical surfaces. Secondly, they act as a light barrier, preventing stray light rays from reaching the primary or secondary mirrors. Moisture and stray light degrade image quality and may even force observations to be interrupted.
The AstroZap sleeves are manufactured in the United States from a nylon and cotton fabric that slides easily along the bars that hold the optical tube. Two drawstrings tighten the holster at each end to hold it in place on the telescope. Unlike some competitive models, AstroZap sleeves retain their shape and will not sag, even in high humidity conditions. Available for Dobsons Sky-Watcher FlexTube, Meade LightBridge and Ritchey-Chretien Kepler/GSO Serrurier.
