The acclimatization fan Geoptik for Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov telescopes accelerates the thermal equilibrium of the primary mirror, eliminating internal turbulence and improving image sharpness. It drastically reduces the acclimatization time after taking the telescope outside and enables stable and sharp images to be obtained much sooner. 12 V power supply and easy mounting without permanent modifications.

The Geoptik acclimatization fan for Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov telescopes is an accessory designed to effectively accelerate the thermal equilibrium of the primary mirror, one of the most critical factors limiting image quality in high-resolution astronomical observing.

When a telescope is moved from a warm environment, such as the inside of a house, to the outside - especially on cold nights - the primary mirror initially retains a higher temperature than the ambient temperature. This thermal difference generates a turbulent hot air boundary layer on the optical surface, causing distortion, loss of sharpness and contrast degradation, even with a stable sky.

The acclimatization fan acts by forcing air circulation at the rear of the optical tube, rapidly removing this layer of hot air and promoting uniform thermal exchange between the mirror and the external environment. As a result, the telescope reaches thermal equilibrium in much less time and provides more stable, sharp and contrasted images from the early stages of the session.

This system radically modifies efficiency and acclimatization times, dramatically improving the observing experience, especially in planetary, lunar and close doubles, where thermal stability is critical.

Operation and use

The fan is easily installed on the rear of the telescope using a dedicated adapter:

  1. Screw the adapter (A) to the body of the Schmidt-Cassegrain or Maksutov telescope.

  2. Insert the fan (B) into the adapter.

  3. Connect the fan cable to the power cable (C).

  4. Power the system using a 12 V cigarette lighter type power supply.

Under normal conditions, after approximately one hour of operation, the primary mirror reaches thermal acclimatization. This time may vary depending on the initial temperature difference and ambient conditions.

The Geoptik fan is a simple, effective solution without permanent modifications, ideal for demanding observers who wish to obtain maximum optical performance from their SC or Maksutov telescopes.
