The impressive 100 mm Sky-Watcher Heliostar is a safe solar telescope for observing active solar bulges and other solar details in the H-Alpha band with an exceptionally low bandwidth of only 0.5 angstroms or less.
By observing the sun with such a narrow H-alpha bandwidth, you will be rewarded with exciting and awe-inspiring real-time observations of our nearest star in all its fiery splendor. Its boiling surface shows magnificent details such as solar flares (flames), bumps, spicules, granulation and, of course, sunspots!
The Heliostar uses different technologies to protect your eyes during observation, including a coating against thermal infrared radiation and a UV filter. The Etalon filter only lets through the 656.28 nanometer wavelength. Since this light is emitted by hydrogen, it is also called H-alpha radiation. This light shows the chromosphere of the sun with its many phenomena.
Heliostar's Etalon achieves a bandwidth of only 0.5 angstroms, without the need for the costly and complex use of a second Etalon ("Double-Stack"). Therefore, it achieves the same performance without additional effort.
The Heliostar meets the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2:2015 (filters for direct sun observation).
Always use the telescope according to the instructions and be very careful when observing the sun. The integrated solar finder will help you.
Neveruse the telescope without the deflection optic in front of the eyepiece, as this optic contains the blocking filter, which is essential for safe solar observation.
