Product Details

Earth by day with the Moon: this projection slide shows the globe 700 000 km above Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. The Moon is seen full at about 380 000 km behind the Earth. This alignment occurred on March 1, 2002 and can be reproduced with Redshift.

The second slide shows Earth at night with the Moon, this time 700 000 km above the Red Sea. The Moon is now closer to the observer than the Earth and we can admire its visible face. This representation corresponds to the alignment between the Sun, the Earth and the Moon on November 9, 2011.

The Moon and the Earth are magnified by a factor of 50 in order to appreciate their details.
