Telescope Omegon Ritchey-Chretien Pro RC 406/3250 Truss OTA
RC Truss Carbon Telescope from Omegon: professional astrophotography for your observatory
your passion is astrophotography and you are looking for the perfect telescope for your observatory? Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes combine a large optical mirror tube with near-perfect image quality. A pair of hyperbolic mirrors ensures a wide, well illuminated field of view free of comatic aberration, all in a compact format. The result: perfect stars right down to the image contour. That is why this is the system of choice for many observatories and professional institutes.

- Hyperbolic mirrors: extremely sharp images and large field of view without correctors
- Quartz mirrors: greater focus stability without readjustment for an always sharp image
- Compatible with large-format CCD cameras: illumination of approx. 60 mm
- Carbon truss optical tube: rigid open carbon grating system
- High reflection: dielectric treatment with 92-94 % reflection for clear, contrast-rich observations and astrophotos
- High cooling speed due to open design
- High-performance electric fan: minimizes theseeingOr astronomical view of the optical tube and accelerates its cooling
Hyperbolic mirror for better image quality
RC telescopes are equipped with hyperbolic type main and secondary mirrors. Not with spherical mirrors, like the Schmidt-Cassegrain systems. The design of the RC is very careful: the optical tube offers a wider field of view and considerably less optical aberration.
Impeccable image quality in a larger field of view: this is the task of these telescopes. That is why they are the preferred choice for astrophotography. And it's also why RC optical tubes are suitable for CCD cameras, which means you can take sharp pictures right down to the contour without the need for a corrector. So you can capture beautiful snapshots of the sky.
Particularly useful in a wider spectral region
RC telescopes do not have any lenses in the beam path. This is a great advantage, because refraction effects such as chromatism or scattering are avoided. The useful region of the spectrum beyond visible light is wider. Thus, you can enter the interesting world of ultraviolet and infrared rays with your camera.
Quartz main mirror
If you have experience in astrophotography, you have probably experienced that the focus is out of focus during long exposure shots. It is very annoying! The advantage of this model is that it has 2 quartz mirrors. It hardly suffers from thermal expansion, so it produces fantastic images and maintains focus all night long.
The 2 mirrors of the telescope have a 92-94% reflective treatment for clearer and contrast-rich images. Compared to "normal" telescope mirrors with 88% treatment, this guarantees up to 17% more light.
Increased observation agility: fan for the main mirror
Just a slight buzzing noise, but with a gigantic effect: the integrated 12 V fan cools the main mirror up to 50 % faster, so that your telescope can reach the optimum image quality much sooner. No more long waits!
Open design carbon optical tube
Most professional telescopes are open tube telescopes. Well, this telescope also benefits from the advantages associated with this design. The carbon gratings are rigid, lightweight and very resistant to temperature changes. In fact, that is another reason why its focus is so stable. Air renewal is better in the open tubes and prevents the creation of a microclimate inside them.
Large unobstructed opening: 3" eyepiece holder
The rear end is extremely important. A 3" ball-bearing linear Crayford eyepiece carrier ensures enough space to illuminate even the widest fields of view without vignetting. This hybrid between Crayford and rail combines the simplicity of Crayford eyepiece holders and the stability of a good rack and pinion eyepiece holder.
- Perfect orientation to your observation target at all times: fully rotatable eyepiece carrier
- 2" and 1.25" adapters with integrated compression ring
- Precision focusing: 1:10 reduction for minimal focus adjustment
- Graduated scale: to quickly regain focus
- High stability: support of the camera on the optical axis without tilting for a sharp image
Individually adjustable eyepiece holder
A total of 6 collimation screws will allow you to adjust this 3" eyepiece holder with maximum precision on your optical mirror tube. This will prevent unwanted slippage, keeping the eyepiece or your camera always on the optical axis. Class: This eyepiece holder has a homogeneous 3" diameter, which cannot always be taken for granted, as many similar holders taper towards the eyepiece side.
Better image quality than with SC telescopes
RC telescopes are, in essence, completely different from SC or Maksutov telescopes. They are open systems without a corrector plate that adjust much faster to the ambient temperature than SC telescopes. In addition, because they have no front plate, these scopes capture clearer images without the risk of reflections. Ritchey-Chrétien systems are the most highly corrected dual-mirror telescopes available. The sharpness of the field of view, including contour, is impressive. So it is not surprising that virtually all large research telescopes in professional observatories use this type of optical tube.
And now within everyone's reach
The manufacture of hyperbolic mirrors is a science and an art. Until not so many years ago, RC telescopes were among the most expensive in the world and only found in international research institutions. Today, however, this technology is also affordable for experienced amateur astronomers.
