Multi-purpose telescope in modular design: for observing the sun in the H-alpha wavelength, and for observations of the night sky. This telescope is delivered without blocking filter. We offer a wide range of additionally available blocking filters in different sizes, for mounting on 90° diagonal star or on an extension tube. All can be used with this telescope.
ATTENTION: Without this additional blocking filter you cannot use this telescope for H-alpha solar observing!
H-alpha solar observing:
The LS60MT is a telescope for observing the sun in H-alpha light, with 60 mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and 420 mm focal length. The H-alpha wavelength is the most spectacular way to observe the sun, you can see bumps on the edge of the sun, filaments and flares on the surface and many more details. Fine tuning is achieved with a solid 2-inch rack and pinion focuser with 10:1 reduction.
This version of the LS60MT is supplied without a locking filter. So with this telescope an additional blocking filter is necessary for solar observing in the H-alpha wavelength. You can choose from the wide range of Lunt Solar Systems blocking filters and decide, for example, whether you want a 90° diagonal star blocking filter or one in an extension tube.
Observe the starry night sky:
With its modular design, you can remove the H-alpha Etalon system by following a few simple steps. The 2-lens ED refractor can be used as a normal telescope with a 70 mm aperture and 420 mm focal length for night sky observation and photography. The Doublet ED lens provides an excellent image. It can be used with a standard 2-inch zenith mirror on the rack-and-pinion focuser;
With an additional Amici prism, the telescope can of course also be used during the day for nature and landscape observations.
This makes the LS60MT, with its small dimensions and low weight, the ideal travel telescope for all applications!

- Double stacking (double-stack)
The LS60MT can be optionally extended with the LS50FHa or LS60FHa double-stack filters (part numbers 0550200 and 0550250). These filters are simply screwed onto the front of the LS60MT, no additional adapters are required. This results in a bandwidth of
- Solar observation in white light
If the H-alpha unit has been removed, you can of course use a solar filter installed in front of the objective, or a Herschel wedge on the focuser and observe sunspots in white light.
- Solar observation at Ca-K wavelength
Of course, Lunt Solar Systems' Ca-K filter modules can also be used in the LS60MT to observe and photograph supergranulation and other visible effects at this wavelength of the sun.
