H-Alpha Sun Observation:
The LS60MT/B600 is a complete telescope for observing the Sun in H-Alpha light, with 60 mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and 420 mm focal length. The H-Alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the Sun. It allows you to see bumps on the edge of the Sun, filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. Focusing is by means of a rugged 2-inch Rack&Pinion (R&P) eyepiece focuser with rack-and-pinion mechanism with 1:10 reduction.
The blocking filter is the B600. The B600 is well suited for Sun observation and also for solar photography with small sensor chip cameras. For cameras with large sensor chips, we recommend an LS60MT with B1200 blocking filter.
The diagonal mirror in which the blocking filter is installed is equipped as standard with an eyepiece holder for 1.25 inch eyepieces and a T2 connection for cameras.
Also for night sky observation:
Thanks to its modular design, the H-Alfa Etalon system can be removed from the telescope in just a few steps. The 2-lens ED refractor can then be used as a normal telescope with an aperture of 70 mm and a focal length of 420 mm for observing and photographing the starry sky at night. The Doublet ED lens provides an excellent image. Conventional 2-inch diagonal mirrors can be used in R&P focusing.
Of course, with an additional Amici prism the telescope can also be used during the day for nature and landscape observation.
Due to its small size and low weight the LS60MT is also an ideal travel telescope for all applications.

- Double-Stack
The LS60MT can be optionally equipped with the additionally available LS50FHa or LS60FHa Double-Stack filters (article numbers 0550200 and 0550250). These filters are simply screwed into the LS60MT at the front, without the need for additional adapters. This results in a half-width of
- Observing the Sun in white light
Of course, by removing the H-Alpha unit you can use one of the solar filters that are installed in front of the objective, or a Herschel prism in the eyepiece focuser to observe sunspots in white light.
- Observing the Sun in the Ca-K wavelength
Of course, Lunt Solar Systems' Ca-K filter modules can also be used on the LS60MT to observe and photograph supergranules and other effects on the Sun visible at this wavelength.
