This telescope comes without a blocking filter. We offer a large selection of additional blocking filters in various sizes, either installed on a 90° diagonal mirror or on a straight extension sleeve. All of these can be used with this telescope.
WARNING: Without such an additional blocking filter, you will not be able to use this telescope for H-alpha solar observing!
H-Alpha solar observing:
The LS100MT is a telescope for observing the Sun in H-alpha light with a clear aperture of 100 mm (no central obstruction) and a focal length of 714 mm. The H-alpha wavelength is the most impressive way to observe the sun. Here, bumps on the edge of the sun, filaments and flares on the surface and much more become visible. Focusing is achieved by a stable 2-inch R&P focuser with 1:10 reduction.
This version of the LS100MT comes without a locking filter. Therefore, an additional blocking filter is required in order to use the telescope for solar observing in the H-alpha wavelength. You can choose from the large selection of blocking filters at LUNT Solar Systems and decide for yourself, for example, whether you want a blocking filter in a 90° diagonal mirror housing or one in a straight extendable socket.
Night sky observation:
Thanks to its modular design, the H-Alpha Etalon system can be removed from the telescope in just a few steps. With the additionally available conversion kit (item number 0551430), the apochromatic 3-lens refractor can be used as a normal telescope with an aperture of 100 mm and a focal length of 714 mm for observing and photographing the night sky. The FPL-53 triplet lens offers an exceptional image with pure colors. Standard 2-inch star diagonals can be used on the very high quality R&P focuser in conversion kit 0551430.
Note that the optionally available 0551430 conversion kit 0551430 is absolutely necessary if the telescope is to be used at night.

If the H-Alpha unit has been removed and the conversion kit 0551430 has been fitted, a solar filter to be installed in front of the objective or a Herschel wedge in the focuser can of course be used to observe sunspots in white light.

Of course, Ca-K filter modules from LUNT Solar Systems can also be used on the LS100MT to observe and photograph supergranulation and other effects of the Sun visible at this wavelength.
