Sky-Watcher NOMAD Telecentric Focal Extenders - High Optical Precision for Observation and Astrophotography

The Sky-Watcher NOMAD range of high-performance telecentric focal extenders is designed to meet the needs of amateur astronomers and astrophotographers looking to increase the magnification of their telescope without compromising optical quality. Available in several versions(NOMAD-2, NOMAD-4 and NOMAD-5), this range offers different multiplication factors, providing maximum flexibility for both visual observation and astronomical imaging.

Unlike traditional Barlow, NOMAD extenders are based on a 4-lens optical design, optimized to maintain a parallel beam while preserving sharpness, contrast and field flatness. This architecture significantly reduces chromatic aberrations, even in high quality telescopes (APO, ED, etc.), and avoids the elongation of the eye relief typical of some Barlow, similar to what is offered by Powermates from TeleVue. All lenses feature multi-layer anti-reflective coatings, ensuring maximum light transmission and minimizing internal reflections, reinforced by the blackened edges of the lenses. This makes NOMAD extenders ideal for observing and photographing the Moon, planets and objects requiring a high level of detail.

On the mechanical side, NOMADs feature rugged metal construction, precision-machined to ensure optimum alignment of the elements. The barrels include a self-centering brass clamping system, protecting eyepieces and accessories while ensuring a firm and reliable hold. The NOMAD 2x and 4x extenders feature a 2" (50.8 mm) coulant, threaded for standard filters of the same diameter, and are supplied with 1.25" (31.75 mm) adapters. In addition, they include an M48 adapter for CCD/CMOS cameras, with an additional T-thread being required for SLR cameras. Captive tightening screws prevent loss during handling in the field, ensuring safety and practicality in every use.
