Wide field eyepiece Skywatcher Emerald 22mm and 82° apparent field
Astronomical eyepieces are a fundamental element in any telescope, whether refractor or newton. They are directly responsible for the magnification of the image, since the optical tube is limited to collecting and concentrating the light at the focal plane. The image formed at that point is extremely small and can only be properly observed through an eyepiece, which acts as a high-precision magnifying glass.
The appropriate magnification depends on both the object observed and the sky conditions. Higher magnifications are used for planetary observation, while deep sky objects require more moderate magnifications and wide fields. It is also key to adapt the magnification to atmospheric turbulence and sky transparency: forcing high magnifications in poor conditions does not improve the image. A smaller image, well contrasted and sharp, is always preferable to a large but blurred one.
Sky-Watcher Emerald 82° Sky-Watcher eyepiece range
The Sky-Watcher EMERALD 82° range has been designed to offer an immersive observing experience, combining an ultra-wide-angle apparent field, high contrast and excellent light transmission. Its 82° apparent field provides an immersive sensation, especially appreciated in deep sky, Moon and also wide-field planetary observations.
These eyepieces incorporate an advanced 7-lens optical formula, carefully optimized to deliver sharp, bright, well-corrected images across the entire field of view, even near the edges. All optical surfaces feature broadband multilayer anti-reflection coatings that maximize light transmission and effectively reduce internal reflections. In addition, the edges of the lenses are blackened to further enhance overall contrast and minimize stray light.
The EMERALD range is available in 9 mm, 16 mm and 22 mm focal lengths, covering a wide range of magnifications and allowing to build a coherent and versatile ensemble for visual astronomy.
-
The 16mm and 22mm models are 2" diameter
-
The 9 mm model uses 31.75 mm (1.25") diameter
All eyepieces incorporate internal threading for filters of the same diameter, facilitating the use of lunar, planetary or deep sky filters.
Mechanical construction and finish
Sky-Watcher Emerald eyepieces are manufactured using high-precision CNC machining, ensuring excellent mechanical quality, robustness and a perfect fit in the eyepiece holder. The body is made of bright anodized aluminum, resistant and elegant, with a distinctive emerald green finish that gives the range its name and maintains Sky-Watcher's characteristic visual identity.
The result is a solid, reliable and aesthetically pleasing eyepiece, designed to accompany for years of demanding amateur telescopes looking for large field, visual comfort and high optical performance.
