Focuser Omegon Crayford focuser for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes - for better astrophotography
Achieving accurate focusing in astrophotography is half the battle. However, it is not an easy task, especially with Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. The reason is that the primary mirror of SC telescopes wobbles slightly back and forth during the focusing process. This "mirror wobble" is a nuisance that you can easily avoid by using the new Crayford focuser from Omegon. This SC focuser allows you to focus with total precision, helping you to quickly and easily locate the exact focus point.
Simply screw it on and get started
The Omegon SC Crayford focuser is very easy to use. Its telescope-side thread fits directly onto the standard SC thread of your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. In 2 minutes everything is screwed on and you are ready to go. Coarse focusing is done using the main mirror focusing knob, but final fine focusing is done using the new focuser.
An improved Crayford focuser
Bearing Type" is the name of the new improved Crayford design. A "normal" Crayford focuser already has the advantage of focusing without backlash. The secret of this focuser Omegon is its ball bearings: 8 oversized rollers hold the focuser tube firmly in place. The tube slides smoothly into the desired position. The addition of a rack and pinion keeps the focuser tube firmly in position - the tube does not simply slide through as is the case with "normal" Crayford focusers.
Extremely sensitive focusing by means of a 1:10 reduction gear
Rubber-reinforced, lightly knurled focusing wheels allow you to focus with precision. Multiple ball bearings used to hold the inner tube make this precision focusing possible. With the 1:10 reduction gear, focusing is even more precise. This allows you to focus accurately even at high magnifications, for example, when using the live image on your laptop screen.
Large load capacity of up to 8 kg
SLR cameras, large CCD cameras, off-axis guides and large 2-inch eyepieces: what do all these accessories have in common? They are often heavy, especially when used in combination. That's why the Omegon Crayford focuser has been designed with a particularly high load capacity and can support accessory loads of up to 8 kg in weight. So simply attach your accessories, whether light or heavy, and don't worry about them staying in place - just concentrate on enjoying your astronomy!
Lock for astrophotography
A locking screw allows you to fix the focus point for astrophotography. The focusing mechanism is isolated, which means you cannot accidentally alter the focus. This is another advantage of this focuser over a "normal" Crayford type, and the locking screw not only isolates the mechanics, but is not attached to the inner tube. This means that the focuser always remains centered and the inner tube of the focuser cannot slip off its axis.
