The SkyWatcher Evostar 120EDX is part of the new generation of EDX refractors, available in diameters from 80 to 150 mm, designed to meet the needs of the most demanding astronomers. With its 120 mm aperture, this model offers an ideal balance between optical power, versatility and portability, making it perfect for both planetary observation and deep sky photography.

Thanks to its f/7.5 focal ratio, the Evostar 120EDX is able to offer exceptional detail when observing the Moon, Jupiter or Saturn, while capturing nebulae, clusters and galaxies with great precision when combined with a field corrector or reducer. In addition, its aperture captures 44% more light than a 100 mm refractor, providing brighter and more contrasted images.

🔹 High-quality optics with HOYA Japanese ED glass

To achieve the designation "apochromatic" (APO), a refractor must correct both primary and secondary chromatic aberrations. The Evostar 120EDX employs a doublet with an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element manufactured by HOYA (Japan), which dramatically reduces chromaticity and eliminates annoying color fringing on bright objects such as planets or the Moon.

All optical surfaces are multi-coated to minimize light transmission losses and improve contrast. In addition, SkyWatcher applies the "Metallic High-Transmission" (MHC) coating, with a transmission close to 99.5%, resulting in brighter, cleaner and high-contrast images.

🔹 Crayford 2.6" Dual Speed 10:1 focuser and 360° rotation

The Evostar 120EDX's 2.6" Crayford focuser offers precision mechanics and high load capacity, essential for astrophotographic work with large-format cameras. Its 10:1 reduction allows fine and precise focusing, even on long exposures.
The tube features a 360° rotation system that maintains focus fine-tuning while conveniently adjusting the framing. A locking nut ensures stability even in extreme orientations of the optical tube.

The optical tube of the Evostar 120EDX is made entirely of CNC-machined steel, with no plastic parts, offering exceptional rigidity and durability. Its interior is beveled and blackened to eliminate internal reflections and maximize contrast.
Includes two metal attachment rings, Losmandy dovetail and a retractable lens hood, making it easy to transport and install on any mid-range or high end equatorial mount.
