Sky-Watcher's EvoStar EDX series (available from 80 to 150 mm) covers a wide range of astronomical needs.
The EvoStar 150EDX is the largest diameter model in the range, designed for astronomers looking for a multi-purpose instrument capable of exceptional performance in both planetary and deep sky observation.
Thanks to its f/8 focal ratio, it enables high-quality astrophotography, ideal for capturing nebulae, clusters and galaxies with an astonishing level of detail. Its excellent chromatic correction and high-level optics guarantee sharp, contrasted images free of color halos. The Moon, Jupiter or Saturn will be displayed with an impressive level of detail, even at high magnifications.

ED doublet optics with glass Hoya (Japan)

To merit the designation "apochromatic (APO)", a refractor must correct primary and secondary chromatic aberrations.
In the case of the EvoStar 150EDX, its optical doublet with ED glass Hoya - a reputable Japanese manufacturer - reduces chromaticity exceptionally well, almost completely eliminating color fringing on bright objects.
All optical surfaces are treated with Metallic High-Transmission Coating (MHC), which ensures light transmission close to 99.5%, providing brighter and more contrasted images than conventional refractors.

Performance in astrophotography

Thanks to its f/8 focal ratio, the EvoStar 150EDX is particularly interesting for deep sky photography.
Combined with a CCD or full-format DSLR camera (the use of a corrector/reducer is recommended), this telescope enables high detail astrophotography of the largest and brightest objects in the sky.
In addition, its 150 mm diameter captures 56% more light than a 120 mm refractor, offering superior performance in both visual observation and imaging.

Crayford 3" Dual Speed 10:1 Focuser

The EvoStar 150EDX incorporates a high-precision 3" Crayford focuser with 10:1 dual speed, designed to support heavy astrophotography equipment and large sensors.
Its robust and smooth mechanism allows for ultra-fine focus adjustments, and its 360° rotation facilitates ideal framing without losing fine-tuning.
A locking vise allows stable focus to be maintained in any orientation of the tube.

Robust construction and premium finishes

The optical tube is made entirely of CNC machined steel, with no plastic parts, ensuring rigidity, durability and mechanical precision.
The interior is beveled and blackened to avoid internal reflections and maximize contrast.
It includes two metal rings, dovetail type Vixen, retractable sunshield and rigid carrying case to protect the equipment.
In addition, it incorporates a top handle with Synta type finder base, which facilitates both transport and installation of accessories.
