The Askar 160APO has an effective aperture area 30% larger than the 140APO and the visual limiting magnitude it can reach is 12.8.

Triplet APO air-spaced lens design

It includes one piece of ED glass, known as low dispersion glass. This is a type of optical glass specifically designed to reduce chromatic aberration.

The APO series uses special optical designs and multiple lens elements to correct chromatic aberration, providing object details with higher quality and color accuracy.

In the refractor element structure, increasing the number of lenses and designing lens combinations can effectively correct chromatic aberration. However, this also involves higher production costs and design complexity.

Dovetail plate type Losmandy

The length of the dovetail plate has been extended to 400 mm, which is more convenient for maintaining balance on the stand.

The telescope sunshield has an integrated retractable design.

It reinforces the overall stability and ensures that the optical axis is not affected when stretched, thus guaranteeing image quality.

The retractable part also features a rudder-type locking ring for easy loosening or tightening.

Portability

As a large aperture and long focal ratio OTA, the shortest overall length is only 883 mm, net weight is 11.4 kg and gross weight is 13.6 kg (including handle, tube rings and dovetail plate).

Large 3.5" dual-speed rigid focuser

Compatible with most motorized focusers on the market. There is a high precision scale printed on the 100 mm focusing travel.

There are two finder bases on both sides of the focuser, providing additional mounting positions for other astronomical accessories.

The back of the focuser features a large 360° high-precision rotator, along with precise scales for convenient adjustmentw and saving rotation angles. It is also equipped with an enlarged rotator locking screw that can be easily secured even under high loads.

Visual observation

The focuser interface on the back comes with a 1.25"/2" adapter, so the 160APO can easily focus when connected to 1.25" or 2" diagonals or multiple eyepieces. Due to the retractable lens tube design, it can also be connected to a binocular for visual observation.
