To expand its range of accessories for its cameras and the needs of astrophotographers, ZWO offers a compact focusing motor. Called EAF (Electronical Automatic Focuser), it can be installed on a wide range of instruments using a rigid mounting bracket and controlled with most current software or with the ASIAIR box.
Good focusing is crucial to obtain a quality image. Motorized focusing provides greater precision and avoids touching the optical tube (which causes annoying vibrations, especially at high magnifications). Thanks to a fast, precise and compact system, ZWO allows you to significantly improve the quality of your images, an essential plus for planetary or deep sky astrophotography. An L-shaped aluminum bracket is perforated with several strips and holes, allowing the EAF to be attached to a wide range of eyepiece holders. Four couplers are supplied to fit different axes of existing eyepiece holders (at the focusing wheel end).

The stepper motor used provides a rotation of up to 7.5°/sec for high focusing accuracy, and withstands loads of up to 5 kg. Connection to your PC or ASIAIR is via a USB2.0 cable; the new -N version is -C type. The EAF is compatible with ASCOM and INDI for autofocusing via a wide range of software. Optionally, a control card and a temperature sensor can be purchased.
Warning: If you connect the EAF-N with its USB Type-C port to the ASIAIR's Type-C output, you will not have enough power to power it. The ASIAIR port is only useful for data transmission.
