H-alpha 12 nm CCD clip-on filter for Sony Alpha
Astronomik H-alpha 12 nm filter - Maximum contrast for nebula astrophotography
The Astronomik H-alpha 12 nm filter is designed to capture hydrogen nebulae with maximum precision, both in dark skies and in areas with high light pollution. Thanks to its narrow semivalor width of 12 nm and very high transmission of close to 100%, this filter dramatically enhances the contrast between the H-alpha regions and the sky background, providing cleaner, deeper and more detailed images.
This narrow band filter is ideal for CCD and CMOS sensors, and is especially useful with cooled cameras, where the main limitation is often dark current, not background brightness. Compared to ultra-narrowband filters, the H-alpha 12 nm offers a practical advantage: it makes it easy to find guide stars with most integrated guiding sensors.
Its state-of-the-art MFR coating technology ensures excellent performance even with fast optics (up to f/3), while maintaining uniform transmission over the entire field.
⚠️ Important: Astronomik H-alpha filters are not suitable for solar observation.
💡 Recommendations for use
If you are choosing your first Astronomik filter, please note the following suggestions:
-
Astronomik CLS: ideal for reducing general light pollution and natural airglow while maintaining the natural colors of objects. For astromodified cameras the CLS-CCD version, with IR blocking, is recommended.
-
Astronomik UHC: excellent for emission nebulae, as it passes only H-Beta, OIII, H-alpha and SII lines. It offers stronger background suppression than CLS, but is not suitable for galaxies and star clusters.
-
OIII, H-alpha and SII line filters (6 nm or 12 nm): ideal for advanced astrophotography with high light pollution or even with a full Moon.
-
Astronomik OWB: corrects white balance in astromodified cameras, returning them to conventional photographic use without additional processing.
