Discover the ZWO ASI6200MM Pro, a color astronomy camera with a 61.2 MP (9,576 × 6,388 pixels), 3.76 µm pixel Sony IMX455 full-frame sensor, designed to capture images of the cosmos with incredible sharpness and a wide field of view. With its 16-bit, 14-stop dynamic range converter, ultra-low read noise of 1.2 e-, and 51 ke signal storage capacity, it is ideal for high-contrast nebulae, galaxies, and starscapes. The two-stage TEC cooling system combined with zero amp-glow technology and built-in anti-ghosting allows for long exposures without artifacts. All this in an ultralight ≈ 700 g body, with USB 3.0 connectivity and 512 MB DDR3 buffer, for fast and reliable transfers.

Please note that all chilled chambers need to be connected to an external 11-15v power supply to operate.

The ASI 6200 MM/MC Pro from ZWOA powerful, state-of-the-art astronomical camera

ZWO has gone a step further with this new camera. Thanks to its full-frame sensor with adiagonal of approximately 43 mm, astronomical photographs with huge image fields can be taken.

One of the most outstanding features of the ASI 6200 MM/MC Pro is its sensational light sensitivity. It has a QE of 80 % thanks to theBACK ILLUMINATIONAnd the magnifier has a very low brightness. This makes this camera a very suitable choice for all astronomical applications, but especially for deep sky astronomical photography.

Other advantages and features of the ASI 6200 MM/MC Pro camera:

  • USB 3.0 for fast download (can also work with USB 2.0)
  • DDR3 buffer memory for stable data transfer with USB 2.0: minimizes amplifier glare
  • Powerful Peltier cooling up to 35 °C at ambient conditions
  • One of Sony's most light-sensitive CMOS sensors
  • High resolution due to 3.76 µm pixels, making it ideal for fast and sharp telescopes, such as apochromatic, Hyperstar, Celestron Faststar or fast Newtonians
  • High sensitivity (QE of approx. 80 %) making it an ideal astronomical camera for faint objects
  • 16-bit ADC, which allows reaching the same depth as CCD cameras, but with a much higher sensitivity.

Areas of application of the camera:

  • Deep sky photography (nebulae and galaxies): thanks to its high sensitivity, images of nebulae and galaxies are obtained in a few seconds. The camera can be cooled down to 35 °C below ambient temperature, which further reduces the already low noise. By raising the gain, exposure times can be reduced to less than 30 seconds. This eliminates effects due to tracking inaccuracies.
  • Lunar and planetary photography: extremely short exposure times due to high camera sensitivity freeze air distortions. Thanks to the high resolution of the sensor, many details can be captured, even with a shorter telescope focal length. It can also be used for video astronomy.

Special features of the cameras ZWO ASI Pro:

ASI Pro cameras are equipped with a 512 MByte DDR3 internal memory that ensures secure data transfer and reduces the so-called Amp-Glow, which can occur when data is transferred at low speed with USB 2.0.

In addition, the ASI Pro cameras have an improved housing. The sensor housing is firmly closed with four screws. The design has undergone extensive testing that has proven its outstanding robustness. In fact, this camera does not suffer from fogging even in environments with high ambient humidity.

And, to ensure impressive deep sky captures, ASI Pro cameras feature a dual-level Peltier cooling system that brings the sensor to 40 to 45°C below ambient temperature and significantly reduces sensor noise.

The cameras ZWO ASI with active cooling require an additional 12 volt power supply. If a suitable power supply is not available, it can be found in the accessory recommendations.

12 V at 3 A~5 A DC with D5.5×2.1 mm plug, center positive pole, or an 11 to 14 volt lithium battery is required. Note that use of a power supply outside this voltage range is likely to cause irreparable damage to the camera.
