The Sky-Watcher Esprit 70EDX Sky-Watcher optical tube is designed for the advanced amateur astronomer seeking a high-performance instrument comparable to professional equipment. With its unique air-spaced triplet apochromatic construction, this refractor virtually eliminates chromatic aberrations, delivering images with exceptional contrast and sharpness.

The secret of the Esprit 70EDX lies in its high-quality triplet ED lens made of HOYA FCD-100 glass, renowned for its excellent chromatic correction. Thanks to this Japanese precision glass, Sky-Watcher has achieved outstanding optical performance in both planetary observation and astrophotography. The adjustable barrel adds extra precision and customization compared to other models.

In addition, the use of multilayer treatments on all surfaces significantly reduces light loss, making the Esprit 70EDX brighter and more contrasted than other less corrected optical tubes. The Metallic High-Transmission Coating (MHTC) treatment applied to the air-glass surfaces ensures a transmission close to 99.5%, for brighter and more detailed images.

Deep sky astrophotography with the Esprit 70EDX

Thanks to its f/7 focal ratio, this optical tube is especially suitable for deep sky photography. With an optional 48 mm 2-lens corrector/flattener, a completely flat, distortion-free field is achieved, ideal for capturing nebulae and galaxies such as Orion or Andromeda. This corrector, when screwed directly onto the focuser, minimizes bending and ensures maximum image quality over the entire field.

Linear Power 2.7" focuser with maximum precision

The Linear Power focuser is one of the flagship features of the Esprit range. With a patented design, 2.7" (68.5 mm) input and rack and pinion system, it combines robustness and precision with 11:1 demultiplication, allowing fine adjustments essential for astrophotography.

The sliding tube slides smoothly thanks to a high quality four-bearing guide system, avoiding any shifting during set-up. A locking thread maintains the position of the focuser according to the orientation of the tube, while the graduated scale allows precise positions to be recorded according to the equipment used. The focuser is 360° rotatable without loss of focus, making it easy to find the optimal framing.

Sturdy construction and neat aesthetics

The optical tube is made entirely of high quality aluminum, precision CNC machined. It contains no plastic parts, guaranteeing maximum robustness and durability. The interior is baffled and painted in matte black to minimize reflections and stray lights, optimizing optical quality.

It includes two dovetailed collars Vixen, carrying handle, retractable sunshield and a rigid carrying case, offering comfort and safety in transport.
