All about the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 100EDX f/7 refractor
The Sky-Watcher EvoStar 100EDX belongs to the prestigious EvoStar EDX range, which covers diameters from 80 to 150 mm to cover a wide range of needs. With its 100 mm aperture, this intermediate refractor is designed for amateurs looking for a versatile instrument, ideal for both planetary observation and deep sky photography.
Its f/7 focal ratio allows for bright and sharp images, making it a very interesting choice for astrophotography of objects such as nebulae and galaxies. In addition, its high-quality optics and excellent chromatic correction ensure superior performance: from detailed observation of the Moon to stunning views of Jupiter or Saturn.
Apochromatic optics with HOYA ED doublet
To achieve the "APO" designation, a refractor must correct the primary and secondary chromatic aberrations inherent in any optical design. The EvoStar 100EDX incorporates a high quality doublet apochromatic ED glass element (HOYA, Japan), significantly reducing color halos and improving contrast, especially in planetary and lunar photography.
All optical surfaces receive Metallic High Transmission Coating (MHC) multilayer treatments that increase light transmission up to 99.5% and minimize internal losses and reflections, providing brighter, sharper and more contrasted images.
Photographic performance
Thanks to its f/7 focal ratio, the EvoStar 100EDX is perfect for deep sky photography, especially in combination with CCD or DSLR cameras and a suitable corrector/reducer. Its 100mm aperture collects 56% more light than an 80mm refractor, dramatically improving the detail and range of your images.
Crayford Dual Speed 2.6" Focuser
The EvoStar 100EDX is equipped with a Crayford focuser of great robustness and load capacity, with dual speed 10:1, 2.6" (66 mm) format and 360° rotating output, which maintains precision without loss of focus. Includes graduation system and locking screw to fix the position according to the orientation of the tube.
Construction and ergonomics
The optical tube is made entirely of high quality steel and aluminum, precision CNC machined. Its interior is fully baffled and matte black to reduce unwanted reflections. The tube includes two clamping collars, dovetail type Vixen and a retractable hood.
