Robotic focusing motor PrimaLuceLab SESTO SENSO 3 LS for telephoto lenses
SESTO SENSO 3 LS is a robotic focusing motor specifically designed for precision motorized focusing of telephoto photographic lenses (Canon, Nikon and others). Developed and manufactured in Italy by PrimaLuceLab, SESTO SENSO 3 LS is based on SESTO SENSO 3 technology and introduces the new Lens Gear Clamp (LGC) , a custom mechanical interface that directly connects the motor to photographic lenses to rotate the focus ring of compatible photographic lenses with extreme precision and no backlash, eliminating the need for external straps (although a strap is optionally available for lenses with very stiff focusing mechanisms) and offering a built-in position encoder that tracks motor position even during manual adjustments, with the option of automatic position recovery . The LGC also features an Arca-Swiss style mount, allowing SESTO SENSO 3 LS to easily attach to one of our PLUS-style dovetail rods Vixen and mount on any telescope mount equipped with a standard Vixen clamp.
With USB-C and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity , you can control the SESTO SENSO 3 LS from your computer or wirelessly via the Virtual HandPad with a smartphone or tablet. Its high-precision motor offers a resolution of 2 million steps , making it ideal for astrophotography with photographic lenses. Compatible with ARCO rotators, ASCOM controllers and PLAY software, as well as supporting EAGLE's GHOST mode and DARK mode with dimmable LED lights, the SESTO SENSO 3 LS sets a new standard in robotic focusing for telephoto imaging.

Compact, lightweight andall in one.
The SESTO SENSO 3 LS features a compact, lightweight housing that integrates all control electronics, with all ports conveniently located on the side. The unit includes dimmable status LEDs, which can also be turned off completely to avoid stray light during night sessions with photographic lenses. Connectivity is streamlined and efficient: a USB-C port allows connection to an EAGLE or any Windows® computer via the included USB cable; the dedicated ARCO port allows power and control of an optional ARCO camera rotator via a single cable; the 12 V power port (5.5/2.5 mm, center positive) powers both the motor and internal electronics via the included cigarette lighter cable (or with an optional cable for direct connection to the EAGLE); and a temperature sensor port allows the optional probe to be connected for use with third-party software that supports automatic focus compensation for ambient temperature changes.
Easy installation withlens Gear Clamp (LGC)
The SESTO SENSO 3 LS incorporates the new Lens Gear Clamp (LGC), designed specifically for telephoto photographic lenses such as Canon, Nikon and other models with manual focus rings. This innovative gear-based design eliminates mechanical play and ensures smooth and accurate motorized focusing without the need for external straps. The integrated rubber gear attaches directly to the lens focusing ring, while the Arca-Swiss style mount allows the SESTO SENSO 3 LS to be attached to a PLUS style dovetail bar Vixen for perfect alignment. Manual focusing is possible at any time by turning the lens focus ring, while the built-in encoder controls the position of the motor, even after manual adjustments. This makes the SESTO SENSO 3 LS ideal for astrophotographers seeking the precision of a robotic focusing motor combined with the freedom of manual control.
If your telephoto lens does not include an L-bracket with photographic thread for mounting on the dovetail style bar, you can mount the lens on the dovetail bar Vixen PLUS, we offer an optional secondary support for photographic lenses, a dedicated accessory that ensures proper stability and alignment when using SESTO SENSO 3 LS.
For optimal grip on different focusing rings, the SESTO SENSO 3 LS includes two interchangeable rubber gears: one for lenses with focusing rings up to 18 mm wide and one for lenses with focusing rings thicker than 18 mm. This ensures maximum contact and precision with a wide range of compatible objectives. The SESTO SENSO 3 LS is compatible with numerous photographic lenses, such as (among others):
Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 Vr S
Nikkor Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S
And other telephoto lenses with manual focus ring
Integrated encoderPrecise control with freedom of movement
The SESTO SENSO 3 LS integrates a high-resolution position encoder that tracks the movement of the motor shaft with extreme precision. This allows the user to manually rotate the focus ring of the photographic objective, with the SESTO SENSO 3 LS installed and turned on, without losing the reference position of the motor. Ideal for astrophotographers who need to adjust the focus manually before moving to fully automated control, this feature also improves the initial calibration process.
Another advantage of the integrated encoder is its ability to detect and compensate for small focus changes caused by lens mechanics. With theautomatic Position RecoveryThe SESTO SENSO 3 LS can also automatically return the lens focus ring to its previous position if it is manually rotated or accidentally shifted. A recovery delay can be defined (from 0 seconds for an instantaneous reaction up to 20 seconds). Note that the encoder only detects motor shaft movements and cannot take into account internal mechanical slippage of the lens focusing mechanism.
SESTO SENSO 3 LS:dimensions and weight
The SESTO SENSO 3 LS packs all of these advanced features into a lightweight, compact, all-in-one chassis designed specifically for installation on telephoto lenses without the need for external brackets or adapters. The SESTO SENSO 3 LS weighs only 515 grams (1.1 lb). The dimensions are shown in the image.
