Allows up to three instruments to be used at the focal plane of a telescope.
Designed, manufactured and assembled in Germany.
Light passes through the IMP unaltered to the rear port (port 1 with a free diameter of 85 mm), or can be deflected to the left or right (ports 2 and 3 with a free diameter of 67 mm) via two automated 40 x 40 mm mirrors with BBHS coating.
Can be controlled via a keyboard or remotely via a web interface.

Multi Port Instrument IMP85

This device is a direct derivative of our remote observatory developments. The massive CNC-machined housing made of duraluminium withstands even the heaviest loads of large cameras. The ability to derive multiple benefits from one telescope opens up completely new worlds for both remote observatories and amateur astronomers or regular observatories. A remote observatory never has to be reconfigured again: a unit can now be equipped with a deep-sky astronomical camera, a planetary camera and a spectrograph without having to request conversion time from staff. An observatory with public shows can finally leave the camera permanently on the main telescope and continue to use it for guest observations without any problems. After guided tours, there is no need to spend time cleaning and rebuilding the equipment: the telescope can be used immediately for astrophotography at the touch of a button. The possibilities of this system are as diverse as the fields of astronomy.

Technical Drawing

Technical drawing. The IMP85 has a unique selling point with its non-mirrored Port 1. While other devices have a central mirror that rotates, the IMP85's design keeps the main camera in the central focus. No light is lost and weight is evenly distributed. The compact and solid construction allows the shortest possible connection to many telescope systems. Two individually adjustable 40x40 mm mirrors can be electronically inserted into the light path with the highest degree of repeatability to redirect the light to port 2 or port 3 3.Estos ports can be used for various other optical instruments, such as spectrographs, video cameras, planetary cameras or a simple eyepiece. To avoid any compromises, the IMP mirrors are made of quartz glass and are coated with our best BBHS silver mirror coating, which has a reflectivity of 98-99% from approx. 390 to 2000 nm and is therefore suitable for a wide range of applications. Spectroscopy, photometry and even laser applications are possible! The ports are clearly defined in the back approach and are easily adaptable to all common systems by means of standard adapters. Thus, instruments can be connected more or less parfocally to all three ports by means of an individual combination of adapters. We will be happy to help you find the optimum configuration for your application.

The IMP body offers the following connections:

 Telescope side connections: 120 x 7.Montura dovetailed 5 mm.

Connection port 1 side of the camera: 120 x 7.Montura dovetailed 5 mm.

Connection port 2 and camera side of port 3: M68x1 female.

The IMP does not come with additional adapters, because a wide variety of adaptations is possible. The IMP85 is delivered without adapters. A variety of adapters for telescope side and camera side are available from stock or upon request, e.g....PlaneWave Hedrick Fokussierer, Feathertouch 3.5" instruments, Alluna Optics M100, M68x1, GO1, AZ5000 and several others, as well as adapters for various cameras.

For custom applications, we provide flange design on request. For all our remote observatories, we use only Ethernet-controlled devices whenever possible. Therefore, the IMP85 is currently only connected to the PC/observatory network via a network port and is controlled via an easily intuitive web interface. A small manual port selector is located on the side of the IMP85.

ASCOM is not currently supported, ASCOM-Alpaka controllers are in preparation.

Power over Ethernet via Ethernet port RJ45.AdemIn addition, the device can also be powered with a standard 12 V 5.5/...5/...12 V hollow socket2.1. The 12 V power supply is included in the scope of delivery.
